2010 PRINTZ AWARD ANNOUNCED
The Michael L. Printz Award is an award for a book that exemplifies literary excellence in young adult literature. The 2010 award winner is Going Bovine, by Libba Bray. All 16-year-old Cameron wants is to get through high school – and life in general – with a minimum of effort. It’s not a lot to ask. But that’s before he’s given some bad news: he’s sick and he’s going to die. In search of a cure, and with the help of a death-obsessed, video-gaming dwarf and a yard gnome, Cam sets off on the mother of all road trips through a twisted America and into the heart of what matters most.
APRIL IS NATIONAL POETRY MONTH
“Poetry is the best words in the best order." (Samuel Taylor Coleridge, Table Talk, July 12, 1827)
Celebrate National Poetry Month by submitting your own “best words” to YA librarian, Anna Dunlop, by Thursday, April 22nd. You may submit up to three poems in any style or form but each should not exceed one page, double-spaced. Please include poet’s name, address and phone number with each entry. There will be one prizewinner selected from each of these two age groups: Grades 6-8 and 9-12. Some of the poems will be displayed in the Library. Good luck!

This is a story in which twelve-year-old Miranda encounters shifting friendships, a sudden punch, a strange homeless man and mysterious notes that hint at knowledge of the future. These and other seemingly random events converge in a brilliantly constructed plot. REGISTRATION: Yes FEE: No
