Create a fun winter mobile using a large snowflake and winter shapes that you will color and decorate. Your mobile will be ready to hang up at home.

Storytimes are a wonderful way to introduce children to the Library and the joy of books. The children's librarians enjoy sharing this love of books with our young patrons through stories, music and simple literature-based crafts. Winter storytime will begin the week of January 25th and runs through the week of March 8th. Sign up begins Tuesday, January 19th.

Please come into the Library or call the Children's Room to inquire about space at any of our storytimes.

MOTHER GOOSE STORYTIME
TUESDAYS, 10:30AM

This half-hour of short books, nursery rhymes, finger plays and music is a wonderful
introduction to the Library for our youngest patrons.

TODDLER STORYTIME
WEDNESDAY OR THURSDAY, 10:30AM

Young children get a chance to listen to books, interact with flannel board stories,
sing and dance to music and create a simple craft in this half-hour program.

BOOKS ALIVE STORYTIME
MONDAYS, 4:15PM

Designed for our patrons with some school and library experience, children will meet in the Community Room for stories, both fiction and non-fiction, and participate in discussion and a literature-related activity.
Parents may wait upstairs in the Library. No siblings, please.

VALENTINE BOUQUET

Using precut foam flower shapes and ribbons, you will create a pretty bouquet for Valentines Day. Give it as a gift or keep it for yourself to decorate your room.

CHOCOLATE MAKING
WITH CHOCOLATIER SUSAN ACKERMAN
THURSDAY, FEBRUARY 11, 7PM

Get ready for a delicious treat! Make chocolate creations using chocolate molds and the dipping method. Make a plate of delectable candy and chocolate covered fruit to enjoy and share with your favorite valentine!

THE GLEN COVE PUBLIC LIBRARY'S ANNUAL
WRITE AND ILLUSTRATE YOUR OWN BOOK CONTEST
BOOKS ARE DUE THE WEEK OF APRIL 12TH

Sharpen those pencils and get your creative juices flowing! It’s time for our Annual Book Contest! We invite all children in grades 2-5 to submit an original book they both wrote and illustrated. Glen Cove librarians will read the books with consideration to grade level. Books will be judged on originality, creative expression, storyline, correct grammar, usage and neatness of presentation. Be sure to label all books with name, age, school and phone number. Books are due the week of April 12th. Winners will be notified the second week in May. All entrants will receive certificates, and the winning books will be displayed in the Children’s Room.


FEATURED CHILDREN'S DATABASE:
TUMBLEBOOKS

TumbleBookLibrary is an online collection of animated, talking picture books for children. It includes a vast selection of stories for children of all ages and reading levels. TumbleBooks are a great way to enjoy books at home when you can't get to the Library. The TumbleBookLibrary also includes picture books in Spanish, Italian and French as well as puzzles and games and audio books that you can listen to on your computer.

To access the TumbleBookLibrary from your home computer, simply visit the Glen Cove Library's homepage at www.glencovelibrary.org. Click on the Children's Services tab, then on Helpful Databases and select TumbleBooks. If you have any questions about using TumbleBooks, please ask the Children's librarians.


CHILDREN'S DATABASES SEARCHABLE FROM HOME!
Did you know that children can access the Glen Cove Library's databases and obtain research information for school projects from their home computer? Search our Children's databases and find information on countries, animals, math, history, science experiments, sports, art and current events. To access the databases, go to the Glen Cove Library's homepage at www.glencovelibrary.org. Click on Children's Services and then click on Helpful Databases to view the list of available resources. Children's databases include Country Watch, EBSCOhost Web, Kids InfoBits, Kids Search, Searchasaurus, Student Research Center and TumbleBooks. To use these databases, you may need to enter your Library barcode number (2 1571 ______ ). We're sure you'll enjoy using these databases. If you have any questions about using the databases, please call the Children's Room at 676-2130.

VIEW YOUR LIBRARY ACCOUNT FROM HOME AND RENEW ITEMS!
To view your Library account from home, go to www.alisweb.org and click on the My Account link. Enter your name, your Library barcode number and your pin number (the last four digits of your telephone number). You can view a listing of items currently checked-out, renew items and see a listing of items you've requested.

REQUEST BOOKS FROM HOME!
Children (and their parents, too) can search the online catalog and request books from home or from any computer with Internet access. Visit the Library's homepage at www.glencovelibrary.org and click on Search the Catalog. Once you've located the book you want, click the Request tab. You'll need to enter your name, your Library barcode number and your pin number (the last four digits of your telephone number). Please note that not all items are available for request. If an item you selected is not available for request, a message will appear indicating that the selected item may not be requested. Please call the Children's Room at 676-2130 if you have any questions regarding requesting an item.
